Strange knocking sound from W203 Coupe C180 Kompressor

Guys, thanks for all your help. I thought it would be under the heat sheild. I went under the car on saturday as i got a chance to put on the ramp for 5 min. Its driving me bonkers..... So gonna get a mechanic to take a look while im there and sort it. I couldnt see the mentioned clip hence why i then thought it was under the heat sheild...

Any other advice?

yeah, still take the heat shield off, you wil not see it otherwise.

After the heat sheild is taken off, is it quite obvious?

it is if you follow the cable over the top of the propshaft! the clip is right in the middle at the top, blue plastic. just follow the cable and it should be apparent if it is secured in this clip or hanging.
