Strange ticking like noise?

Thankyou for your responses to my earlier query about auto gearbox.
Still waiting to hear from mercedes garage in Macclesfield wether or not they changed AFT and filter ( I am having the long finger here ) as it is not mentioned on the invoice.
My second question is about a ticking noise which occurs when turning off the engine,it is on r/h side of engine bay just by the water bottle,a black unit with vacuum pipes on it.

Looks like your fuel tank purge valve to me. Would not expect it to tick once engine is off, but if it stops fairly quickly it may be OK.

Correct, part of the EVAP system and it shouldent be clicking when the ignition is off. Clicking with the engine running is normal and nothing to wory about.

strange ticking noise

Thankyou for your responses,the noise sometimes carries on for a couple of minutes,maybe it's faulty ?
As regards the hairy hands,we have a full moon here at the moment !
