Stripped down 60k E320 DCI

Just in case anyone else finds it interesting - I found the 2 page strip down of a 60,000 mile E320 CDI in this weeks Auto Express (issue 1001) quite good. Positive comments re the build quality from the mag. Wonder whether they put it back together afterwards

Thanks SLK350, I bought the magazine especially for this article. My desire's are for a W211 E320 CDI at some stage.
Excellent article very informative and gives great reassurance as to the quality. I think the model tested is the latest as it mentions 225bhp and I think this is the V6 E320. Whereas the E320 CDI prior was 207bhp. No doubt somebody (Blobcat, JBerks etc) will/please confirm.
It also goes on to say that electrics on pre-2005 models are more fickle hence gives rise to above assumption.
Really excellent article and puts the mind completely at rest. Exactly what you'd expect from a Merc.

It will be the V6 as that has 224HP & 540nM of torques

Interesting in that the CLK320CDI with the same engine has a slightly lower state of tune. Possibly because it is based on the C class platform.

I bought it yesterday and it is slightly confusing. They quote the power figures from the V6 however it is the IL6. They also make note of the pixel issues in the dash however that only affected the previous W210.
