My CD magazine has become stuck in the player and refuses ejection (Standard Merecedes glovebox fit on C200K 01). CDs were playing OK, then system suddenly reported "No magazine". No matter what I do I can't get my CD magazine out. Any suggestions?

Regards

cd magazine stuck

can you hear any motors working or the magazine trying to move when you press eject?
if not i would say that power has been lost to the changer as the magazines rarely get stuck!

cd changer

in that case i would remove the changer and depending on your own capabilitys i would take the changer apart and see if there are any foreign bodys or any visible obstruction, if there is,remove (obviously) if not put back together and lightly oil any moving parts!
failing that you'd probably have to pay through the nose at a dealer or audio specialist! hope this helps you.

cd changer

having read your reply properly......it sounds as if a belt has snapped or come off, if you take the changer apart you'll probably see the eject mechanism motor has lost its belt.

Thank You. Having just looked around the unit it appears that it is secured using those pesky tamper proof screws, so a visit to the dealers may be on the cards!

before tackling the dealer call in at a audio specialist and see if they can help....say something about it just happening and you saw them so you pulled in......they might be able to offer a solution but at least they will give you advice

Cd Player Fixed

CD PLAYER NOW FIXED
The thought of paying main dealer labour fees was enough to spur
me into further action this afternoon.
I managed to overcome the tamper proof screws with a mixture of allen keys and filed down screwdriver blade. The CD player itself was like pandora's box
with lots of screws revealing very little underneath. No belts present, just lots of little cog wheels, which I wound back and forth and then repeatedly
re-tried the unit. Eventually it kicked into action, magazine ejected, and all appears well. It looks like one of those problems which has mysteriously cured itself, rather annoying really.

Thanks again to those who assisted.

Hi There,

This has happened to my boot-mounted (Kenwood) CD player twice. Both times it was caused by dirt on the laser.

Very easy job for a specialist - they whip it our, clean the head, stick it back in.

Tamper proof screws

The screws have a strange star type head on them - easily defeated with a filed down screwdriver head/allen key.

my guess is they are tork screws...you can buy the drivers for these..often come with socket sets...save you ruining more screw drivers.

altho a proper mechy may tell you i am wrong and let you know exactly what they are.

yes 'torx' similar to an allen key bolt but a star shaped head! like the tiny screws in the back of a mobile phone, most french cars have a lot of these, i think to make you have all jobs no matter how small done at a stealer.
tool companys have got wise to this and a lot more 'specialist' tools are available more freely now.
