Just bought myself an oil extractor pump. The idea is that instead of draining the oil from the sump via the plug, you suck it up a tube and into a container.
I got one of these from a local boat supply shop:

Its the easiest oil change I've ever done. You put the tube down the dipstick hole until it hits the bottom of the sump. Then you pump the handle to create a vacuum in the plastic container, the oil is then pushed up through the tube under atmospheric pressure.
It took about 15 minutes to fill, the more oil there is in the container the more you have to pump the handle. It holds 6 litres, I got about 7 litres out of the engine.
Absolute doddle. £30 isn't a lot of money for something that saves so much time and hassle. And the best thing is the boat shop is full of really cool things that I have no need for but will have to buy, so I'm glad I found that
