sunroof problem in a 1994 C180

The panel moves at an angle when opening, the driver's side moves faster than the left for the first few seconds and its about 1inch further back all the way to the back and it levels off. Sometimes there is a loud crack! Sounds like I have broken something in there. It will close and level off at the front edge and will also tilt and close. What can be wrong here????? :?: :?: Was told by some its a $2000 cost to fix, another said the broken bracket or track will be at least $400 if nothing else is broken, balance is the labour content. How can I trust people who talk like this? What should I do besides ignoring the problem and only use tilt up and down only? :roll:

You will need to take sunroof parcially out and check cables are connected properly.

sunroof problem and indicator problem

Thanks buddy for your help, I will try and get another indie to look at the sunroof before any serious surgery is done. Will cost too much just for a few minutes of fresh air and sun! However, I am selling this car and will tell the buyer to use tilt only if they can help it. I will have the indicator fixed next week if the spare switch is found since this is a safety factor for re-registration to a new owner.
