Sunroof Won't Open

I have a E280 93 Estate, and the sunroof won't seem to open at all. It just makes a whirring sound with nothing happening. Any ideas?

where does the sound come from ? in the boot ? if so remove the inner covering in the boot and locate the motor (left side...), it usually has a hand lever which in my case at least got my sunroof working again

on more modern mercs the manual adjuster for the sunroof is located in the lights just above your head, check your owners manual for instructions for finding same

He's very up on 124 sunroof's.

Thanks for your replys, I've had a whirring sound coming from the roof, but nothings happening. I'll have a look in the manual when the car comes out the garage tomorrow for where the manual section for the sunroof opening is .

if you are lucky its just stuck (that's what the manual intervention is there for) if you are unlucky the cable has snapped

If the cable had snapped, any ideas on repair prices? It doesn't really bother me, but as the air con has decided to not work, I do prefer not to roast while driving

There is a lot of info to gather, and a lot of clued up people on here. Depends what you're looking for, overall they're a great reliable car with lots of comfort and luxury. There's various forums and areas to post in here, so any questions, post away!

Anyway..... Some bugger has disconnected my sunroof before I brought it? That's the root of the problem ... .... ...

I refrained from being nasty and remained rather placid.... Maybe not next time. So much for my sunroof anyway!!
