Surface rust on the "B" pillar 2000 X reg CDI

Has anyone heard of the B pillar on an E class rusting? If you open both the front and back doors on my 2000 x reg E220cdi, I can see rust coming through at the base of the B pillar just above the sill. Plus there is a small circle of rust about half way up the pillar about the size of a 20p piece.

The car has covered 60K and apart from a small amount of rust on the drivers door (on the inside not the outside) it's in very nice condition. Do you think I can try to force MB to repair the rust or will it be out of warranty?

You MUST get to a dealer immediately and get a claim in to MB. If your car is a 1st August 2000 then the 8 year goodwill paint warranty will expire this year on 31st July.
