Hi guy's, took my SLK to an indy to get it fixed (MAF) buts thats another thread.
Whilst there I asked the price of a 'B' service for my 03 plate C180K, he quoted £250 for service including parts.
When I got home I rang MB main dealer, the service manager said that MB are price matching for servicing and that they would do the 'B' service for £250 all in, including parts etc, with the added bonus that do a collection/delivery service as well which is included.
Also in our conversation he also told me that MB are discounting parts to older Mercs.
Just to make my day I told him what I paid to have my MAF fitted and he said the main dealer would have done it cheaper.
I think the moral of the story is to ring around and not just take for granted the indy will be cheaper, like I say I was surprised!!

Nice post. I spoke to my chap at Mercedes tonight as I needed some parts for several customers and I was told things are very slack at the main dealers.
I used to shop around for mercedes parts until I rang mercedes one day and got a price for a part and it was cheaper than Europarts, I dont think its worth the effort shooping around for parts Mercedes are very competetive on prices and interestingly I was told all these gen mercedes parts we can buy from GSF or ECP are the parts that didnt meet the spec for mercedes quality hence why these people sell them cheap but when you add shipping into it its not cheap for a sub standard part.

My dealer just quoted me trade plus VAT for an exhaust and two new spheres.

Having the exhaust welded, and I think I might risk some second hand spheres from Rob Parker.

If my car was newer I would certainly buy from the dealer.
