Survey on independents

Has anyone done or is interested in doing a survey on independents who are supposed to be the MB owners friends but turn out to be turkeys?
How many of you are happy where you take your beloved merc for a service?
Living in Middlesex area, I have tried many and none come near average
They offer poor service, lack proper communication, do not have full facilities, and the list goes on and on
If you have an independent you can trust, please share it with others. If you have found turkeys lets hav esome fun and name and shame them.

He is so much cheaper than the main dealer, and particularly likes cars such as W124, W201, ie. the ones without too many computers in them ;-)

Don't be shy
show us what you are made of, or are you too ashamed?
There is a market for decent inexpensive independents to service all mercs, not just company cars, old and new
so come on and sell your wares

Survey of Independants

On My previous E250 (D) I had two faults which the franchised MB dealer misdiagnosed, and which were fixed by independents at a fraction of the time and cost. Example a badly graunching starter motor, was diagnosed as being either the motor or the slip ring. Independent found low battery due to faulty cell. A new battery took 10 minutes to repair - a new starter/slipring was totally unnnessary!

I has an experience where the franchised dealers diagnosed cleaning the injectors on my 300E. Cost me arm and a leg. Had lots of heated arguments with the dealer. Took it to one of the independents and it was just the HT leads which needed changing
Which goes to show, Franchised dealers are in it for the money. Once they have your money, they don't give a monkeys.
Take it to an independent (good ones anyway) and they get a thrill out of rectifying faults, big or small.

Good Indy in Surrey/Sussex

You will find In-Autos, a good Surrey/Sussex based independent MB specialist, just off A22, 10 miles south of Junction 6 off of M25.

Cannot recommend these guys too highly, I have heard nothing but good reports from (Benz driving) colleagues at work. In-autos even sorted a problem for me over the 'phone!

Near the world famous Dunston Excelsior club used by Gazza (Paul Gascoigne), although probably not so much these days.

Can anyone reccomend a good independant in the North West area ? Really struggling to find someone knowledgable on my 1996 W124 E220 coupe who doesn't try to rip me off !!

I used to use George Davis in Alperton, west London. Always happy with the communication, knowledge and service.

Now I use BSG Mercedes on Ladbroke Grove as they are much closer to me. They are great. I found out from a friend of mine who has his '66 220 Coupe looked after by them as well as his W124.

Indy - "??????? Mercedes" In Maidenhead, Berks

All I Can Say Is That These Guys Are Thieves. They Misdiagnosed My Car. Replaced Parts That Were Fine To Make More Money Out Of Me. And Then Rediagnosed My Car With An Even More Serious Problem. I Am Currently In The Process Of Legal Action Against Them. Do Not Use These People.

I've used Cornerstone garage between Taunton and Ilminster for years and they have always been superb, even on the brand new computer rubbish!

I've used MercCare in Leeds for a few years now. I've found them knowledgable, flexible and sensibly priced. Like many above, I first used them to fix a problem misdiagnosed by the dealer - which they did.
Now that it doesn't affect the warranty, I will be using them for servicing on my new Merc.
