Hi people love the site first time here. My problem is the front forward lower suspension arm. I have replaced the front bushes (had them pressed in at a local engineering shop paying attention to alignment). My problem is the fixing bolt does the scribed line on the bolt face down? Also what torque are the nuts tightened up to? Many thanks in advance. Blink 10

There are 2 types of bolts for these bushes. Standard & caster adjuster type. Sounds like you have the adjuster ones. Is there 2 groves in it. If you slide the bolt in the bush (out of the car) it can go 3 ways. The line on the bolt head has to face either towards the ball joint or away (not up & down) & this will adjust your caster angles. Basically the answer is, it has to go in exactly how it came out.

Hi thanks for the reply the arm I refer to is the forward arm not the lower wishbone that can adjust the camber. I think this is where the confusion is. My reason for asking is that I am not the first person to work on the front arms so putting them back as I found them may not be the right course of action I also do not know the torque for the nuts many thanks. As type49 that arm adjusts caster angle, the straight one does your camber adjustment.

Torque is Approx 110nm + 90 degress.

Must be tightened in ready to drive posistion

Thanks chaps sorry for the confusion on my part does the bolt have to fully pull out each time for adjustment or can it simply be rotated in place? Is there a DIY way of checking the caster angle? Or is it time for four wheel alinement? The reason I ask is a tyre shop I know has a smart four wheel line up system which can do all parameters but they will only do small quick adjustments only many thanks. Martin

If the bolt is correctly fitted, it should not be able to rotate - & yes, it can be fitted wrong & desroy the alloy insert of the new bush. To make any adjustments, the bolt has to be removed again & reinserted in the correct position. This is a right pain in some models as you have to disconnect to anti roll bar each time. No wonder why a full geometry costs so mucn a the dealers. As said, the forward facing arm adjusts caster, the arm facing inwards adjusts camber.

Hi Type 49 the right hand heater control on the panel (air direction) will not allow air flow to the foot wells it just shuts down all air flow (you can hear the air struggling to get out of the system) the air flow is fine in the three other positions any ideas?many thanks. martin

One of the stepper motors will be not working or broken. there are serveal on the system which control the air flow to the different parts of the car.
