Spent time down in Southampton, and as usual all 100% diagnosed accurately and sorted perfectly, and extremely reasonable Labour Costs by Colin
Not to mention they proved by fixing all the issues, that I didn’t need another circa £2,600 worth of main dealer recommended stuff.
Fitted 2 New Spring Links (suspension arms with ball joints) …. Now sounds like an S Class Coupe … er silent no creaks squeaks and clunks. And massive improvement in Steering.
Tightened my front wheel bearings, fixed a Rear Axle oil weep, fitted a new KLG passenger handle (very skilfully, without removing the door inner ) - so no new rattles and creaks …. ,bizarrely that also sorted a rear window closing issue.
Cured my dreaded “ABS ESP Not available, Run Flat Unavailable“ Dashboard warning …, by replacing the front left WSS (note all were replaced 10,000 miles ago at main Dealer). And now the Electronic Parking Brake “Hold Function” now works perfectly again.
Plus did a Star check and Checked over the ABS system and fluid levels etc. Thankfully everything is great with the old ABC system ( huge relief ) - So all sorted!
But a bit of an OUCH … £940 on parts! even with my 15% / 10% Account Discount. Spring link arms @ £293 plus VAT imo are expensive! And both had gone …. Would be smart if they “bolted” the ball joint onto the arm - then one could just buy the ball joint.
Next time the Car tax is due, I feel like send the DOT this bill. Roads are so bad an S class, driven like a pussy over road humps etc., has its suspension shagged in 52,000 miles!
Parts man was telling me in the days, when they actually repaired the roads; one would easily get 100,000+ miles out of these parts.
