s class
I have an S class Mercedes Benz which I bought new and has done 17k miles and is serviced by main dealer.I recently noticed my suspension to feel every road imperfection even in comfort mode.I have had 3 previous s class with air suspension and have never noticed such a hard ride which I believe was not there when the car was new.The tyres have been replaced with identical contental tyres which were originally fitted to the car when new.I have phoned my main dealer who says that if there are no faults showing up on the dash, they would have to plug into the diagnostic machine at £150 .Any suggestions as to the possible fault or is it my imagination??

Hello and welcome,

We've had S-Classes on here previously with a hard ride reported - think some have issues with electrical connectors at the top of the struts - couple of threads below - worth a read of this forum section for more

there is a electrical connections near the top of each suspension points, unplug each one and spray contact cleaner into the contacts, that will solve the problem, it worked for me

I'd second that, even though I know nothing of cars beyond 1991.

As the car ages, I recommend exactly that for every connection you can find.

I've been doing that to my 300-24 for over a quarter of a century.

Certainly worth trying the advice above.

I would add is the car running on runflat tyres they are renown for providing a hard ride?

No, they are ordinary tires, I have since sprayed the electrical connections near the top suspension with contact cleaner, and it has returned to a more comfortable ride.

Given that MB see these cars frequently, couldn't they have mentioned this as a possible cause first? Obviously wanting to fleece the OP £150 for a "diagnostic" whilst giving each connector a squirt of contact cleaner.
