I have had my 300ce for nearly a year now and have become fond of it. Love the all round build quality etc. However, I need a load lugger to throw my mountain bike in the back of so am looking to change.

If anyone out there has a lateish 300D estate, preferably with 7 seats, and fancies a change to a coupe, please let me know.

Mine is a smoke silver 1990 H plate 300ce (M103). It's got an indicated 80k on the clock but actually 180k (I have receipt for the speedo). 4 Owners from new. Don't let the mileage put you off, the car is great for it's age. I've done a few jobs, and had some other jobs done on it at a local independent specialist over the past year to keep it going well, as folllows:-

Oil and air filters
Spark plugs
Dissy cap
Auto transmission fluid and filter change
Discs and pads all round
Small amount of welding to rear subframe mount that I came across while changing the rear discs - my heart dropped when I first saw it but was not as serious as I'd thought, but it was all sorted by local specialist
Underseal applied to brake and fuel lines
New Fuel filter
Stripped, cleaned, lubricated idle control valve
Auxillary drive belt replaced

Other good points

The car seems to use very little, almost no oil and doesn't smoke
All auto changes work correctly including kickdown
Cooling system works perfectly, both fans cut in when they should. The rad was changed a few years ago, looks pretty new.
Tasteful Kenwood face off stereo fitted by me, includes optional lead for I-pod/mp3 player.
Full black leather with electric everything, all works
Electric tilt slde sunroof - beautiful action!
I have lots of bills/receipts since i bought the car and a load that i got with it plus a load of old MOT's.

Bad points

There is a little corrosion on the two nearside wheel arches but not much of a job to repair.

It loses a very small amount of coolant, it may just be leaking from around the hoses near the header tank as there is a crystal build up. I just put a pint in every month or so and that's enough.

It has recently developed a small 'creak' in the power steering but it all works perfectly. I think it may just need a power steering fluid change as it looks a little 'muddy'

There are one or two lights out on the dash that i haven't got round to changing.

It has aircon but I think it needs recharging as it doesn't seem to blow very cold. Heating system still very good regardless.

If anyone out there is interested in a swap (plus cash either way if necessary), please let me know.

Regards

Chris

If you hear a slight creak when turning the wheels when stationary, or at low speeds, I'd look at the front balljoints. They do fail at higher mileages and they make a mess when they let go

Late diesels are tough to find so you may have to wait a while to find someone to swop with you. They're worth the wait, though
