symbols on dashboard

hi! I was wondering if anyone can help me know the meaning of the symbols in the MB 190E dashboard. My dad gave me his car and I can't find the manual... I've been seing a symbol/light on the dashboard w/c looks similar to a sun (a circle w/ broken lines around it) umm dats how close as i could describe it sorry... thanks a lot...

Could be gearbox or dounds like brake warning. Is it on when you are driving, or just when you switch on the ignition (before you start the engine)?

(a circle w/ broken lines around it) What colour is it?,if it's orange it is the bulb fault warning as stats007 says, check all your exterior lights.

unbroken circle with 3 dashes either side is brake pad warning light, circle with dashes and exclaimation mark in the middle is exterior bulb out light.

Tnx for the reply... in my case i noticed it is on when i switched the ignition and while driving. the light is not steady it is blinking w/o steady interval nor duration.

hi tnx for the reply. yes, it is the circle w/ 3 dashes on both sides, i've noticed it blinking while driving but it doesn't have a steady interval nor duration of blinking. do u think i should replace my breakpads already?

sir, with regards to the the circle w/ dashes and exlamation mark in the middle, i think that light corresponds with my handbrake, since i noticed it lights when i used the handbrake and turns off when i released it.

Its the worn brake pads light. Gives you plenty of warning so perhaps 1000 miles or so safely left, but they will need changing!!!
