Synchro Problem C220CDI

HI, I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone could help me with some advice?

The 2nd gear synchro on my 6 speed C220CDI has failed and the MB quote I have been given for the part works out to be more than a reconditioned box! When questioned, the answer I am given is that the synchro can not be supplied on its own, it can only be supplied with the main shaft - hence the price - £675+VAT! The car is a 2001 with only 60k on the clock.

Is it possible to buy just the synchro from another source or is there another solution?

Hello and welcome,, the shaft can give problems, and they synchro is not that good on these boxes, but £675 for a shaft and synchro is a bit on the steep side.

The information you have supplied is most useful and will help me to determine if I can just order a new synchro or if I have to order the main shaft also.
