Hello

I'm looking for any help out there.
I've had my A class ( SE 180 2018 ) for about a year.
The screen showed a SYS restraint malfunction. I took it a mercedes specialist garage, they cleared the fault and said they couldn't find anything.

The second time it appeared. I took it back again, they cleared it and said if it appears again they'll do a wire high resistance test.

I looked at the fault description for supplement restraint system SRS on the paperwork which said " the squid for pyrofuse on board electrical network line has a malfunction. There is an open circuit. "

I would greatly appreciate any help given because I have no idea what this fault is.

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem on mine, but this may not be what you have, but mine was caused by low battery output causing this fault and a few others that suddenly popped up. Fully charged the battery overnight and refitted and the problem reset it'self. May not be what is causing yours but with the lack of answers you could check the out put. Not happened since.

Thanks for your reply.

I thought about it being the battery at first but there is so much things that could affect SRS that it mind blowing.

Mercedes indy garage are having a look at it later today. I'll ask them to have a look at the battery output. I'm hoping it an easy fix like yours.

Thanks again.

Hi did you find the problem?
Hi John

Unfortunately not, I had it reset which cleared the fault. My battery is at 50 percent, please correct me if I'm wrong but that takes the battery out of the equation, doesn't it ?

Reading on other forums. Some people are suggesting that I might need to replace the pyrofuse on the positive battery connector or I've got a blown fuse, it would be a good place to start thats what their saying.

I've booked it in with a different mercedes specialist ( to get a second opinion) for the 31st of this month. Fingers crossed, they might be of some help . I will keep you posted.

If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears mate.

Thank you.

Hi if yor battery is running at 50% then there is a problem there. You need to find out the output. On some mercedes, if the output fall below 12 volts then certain system throw up faults, but I am sure some one else will confirm this. I would fully charge the battery over night and see what the output is after a few days. Apart from that, as you said, many things can throw up a fault. Sorry not much help.

Thanks, I'm going to charge the battery tomorrow see how it goes from there. Hopefully this is the end of it that ( fingers crossed).
Really do appreciate you replying and sharing your insights.
Thanks again.

Only my thoughts, not insights lol. I would have thought more people would have answered. Well check battery output. The battery on my EClass was manufactured in 2004 and still puts out 13+ volts, so I think that they must have made them better then, as a battery made today would not last that long. Many people would change that battery, but each to their own. If it isn't broke why fix it? The worst thing that could happen is that I get up one morning and the car won't start, but being retired it doesn't matter. I personally think that they get obsessed with silly things like OMG the car has done 5,000 miles since it's last oil change, I must change it and buy the most expensive oil possible. I, my choice, change the oil etc whenever with whichever semi synthetic oil I buy and never had a problem. My car is a 2005. As I say each to their own. Thier choice. Sorry started to ramble on. Now that is a great track 'Ramble on'. Must be old oge setting in. 66yrs old soon.
