Tail light on when boot is open, goes off when boot is closed

Hi all, I have a C220 2019 and the tail light is on when the boot is open but goes off when the boot closes. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Check earths on rear lights and boot light

Or a loose wire , or conection in the light and as you close the boot it interupts the circuit ..

Maybe unrelated to the OP's situation but I have had cars in the past where the tail lights were meant to come on when the boot/tailgate was opened.
It was a safety feature because it was assumed somebody would be standing at the rear of the vehicle so made them more visible.

The wiring needs checked, I had this on my E class coupe the wiring should be in the hinge on the right hand side.
There is a bunch of wires in there and the one for the third brake light was in the middle of them god only knows how that only wire broke. The loom goes all the way down the side of the car mine broke close to where the fuel filler cap sits.
Quick solder, heat shrink wrap, tape and as good as new.
