Tapping noise in engine

i own a 1985 190e(2.3).my problem is when u start the car in the morning u hear this tapping noise for about a second or 2,then it stops,but starts again after the engine has warmed up,the noise is not there when the car is moving,but u hear it when u come to a complete stop and the live the engine running.it sounds like it is coming from the middle of the engine the car runs fine just want to get rid of the sound.thanks

theyll be the tappets then!

Firstly try flushing the old oil properly out then use a decent semi synthetic..
if not then may need adjustment or maybe more...
