Recently noticed there is a small tear in the roof fabric of our convertible CLK240, it's where the front of the roof meets the top of windscreen. Not sure if it has been caused by the roof catching something when it stores in the boot after opening?

Any advice on the best way to repair this please?

I have seen several solutions from my time on the Saab forums a few years ago

A new roof (unrealistic)
A roof repair by a specialist company (expensive)
Pull the edge apart, use heat to expand it and either epoxy to reseat it or sew it back on (difficult)
A line of discreet adhesive electrical tape over either that area or the entire length to create a feature of it after cleaning and drying the roof (favoured)
Gaffer tape (lazy)

What's your budget...?

I have no set budget, but won't be buying a new roof :)

I just don't want water getting in. Wondering if there is any glue that could be used to fill the hole?
Also wondering how it has occurred, I'll have to have a look next time we open it to see if it is catching on anything when it retracts and locates in its storage compartment, don't want it to get worse.

That's a pain in the ..... I guess the neatest, most sensible & long lasting solution is to undo the fabric from the front rail (the US CLK forum has instructions and pictures - it's screwed to allow easy (ha!) access to the hood lock ram) thenbond a strip of fabric to the underneath - the glue should tidy up the fraying edges of the hole
