Hi all new to this forum.have been on benz world, but great to find a more Uk based forum

Recently joined the Merc club but have exactly the same prob as a previous post

Quote

[My drivers side front window on my 230 CLK Cabrio (2000) seems to have started closing too far. I noticed when I started finding the door difficult to close and the window not laying flat against the rear window seal. This leaves a gap between the two windows until I open and close the drivers window.

It appears that the drivers window is coming up too far, further than the passenger window. It hits the front roof seal when I shut the door rather than slip under it and it also appears not to drop as far as the passenger side. The windows have the comfort option

I have tried the 10 - 15 second reset holding it in the up and down positions but that hasn't helped. I have also tried adjusting the screws inside the door on the window mechanism but it still travels all the way up until it bangs into mechanical stops with a clunk. The passenger side doesn't make any noise when closing, appearing to stop before any mechanical contact.

I note that television offered a fix, would it be possible to share that with us?

Many thanks

Hilary.

We are more technical here on this forum, and good to see you here

Wow thanks for the fast reply, i assume when you state, star machine .its a visit to a merc dealer,is it a complex procedure?
Television remarked that you had a similar problem with a clk from a search i did back in September 2008
Yes the others sites appear to be well in to all there modifications and styling.
Thanks again.

I am looking right now for a known fault, things are faster here as there is no time difference

Well I think that Cole had the answer,, what happens is the motor gets out of sinc and loses count of the turns,, this can be adapted on anyone with a STAR test set-

One thing that you could try first is to put some packing in the top of the glass so that it closed where you want it to be, then turn the key to 2 and hold the switch up for 10 secs.

I have no idea if this will work but it cost nothing to try

Hi,have sorted the window problem, there are two adjustment screw/cams which can be accessed through the bottom of the door, this allows the travel of the window to be set.

Thanks for all other posts on here, gave me the confidence to remove door trim and investigate

Thanks
