I have a 1995 C280, and lately having lot's of electrical blues. The latest is a non functioning temperature gauge. (works intermittently). I have replaced the temerature sender unit, to no avail. The auto electrician has tested all the wires, and concluded that the gauge in the cluster is faulty. The VDO agents have been less than helpfull and have said their repairs are limited to the speedometer and tachometer only. The cluster unit is sealed, so not sure of the options. a new cluster is horrendously expensive - just for a defective temperature gauge. Any help out there for a solution?

Clusters for all cars (apart from the faclift petrol W210) come up regularly on Ebay. There are 2 or 3 on there now though they may not be the right ones. The C class one is generally reliable (unlike the crap thing they put in the E) so a used one is probably not going to be too hard to find at the usual Merc breakers - Mercman, dronsfield etc.Not sure if they need programming, you'll need to check.
