Question from a newbie. I have a w124 230ce 1992.Since i had the car (about 4 months) the temperature gauge never goes past 45C. I decided to change the temp sensor. It seems to be two sensors on top of the cylinder head at the front one with four and one with three pins wich one do i need to change. I also bought a new sensor(the only one they had listed) and this one has one pin. Im totaly confused. Please help

Are you sure the stat is OK? a duff stat will cause the temp to be low and the warm up time to be long, in addition the heater output will be a quite miserable warm instead of very hot.

Thanks for the replies I have put a new stat two weeks ago but no joy and heater is very hot. Looking on the diagram 92 seems to be the sensor what I just bought. What confused me was 98 and 95 when I have unplugged 98 the gauge went to zero

98 is the switch for the fan where fitted, thats odd that it affects the gauge

i just lost a battle with a deer and am replacing the drivers fog lamp on E350 - 06 and while pulling that, I noticed the outside temperature sensor (not the cable - just the actual sensor that connects to the cable) is also broken. Has anyone else replaced this part along with fog lamp assy and does the temp sensor fit into the plastic bracket for fog lamp or onto the bumper/chassis somewhere. can't find a schematic for E350 sensor placement. thank you

Read somewhere the sensor is not very expensive, get from dealer. Just pull the faulty sensor out of the connector. The sensor is associated with the lower bumper.
