Hi All,

Bit of a quick question....if thats ever happened?!

I have a 300CE and have recently had all four shocks changed, yet i am still getting a slight noise from the front passengers side when the car goes over small dips in the road (if you could call them that, given the state of roads in london these days!)

I have read many of the posts on here regarding the same problems, and just wanted to know is there any way i could check the anti roll bar for wear and tear..??? to narrow down what the problem could be..

Many thanks in advance!

We normally use a lever against the sub frame to move the anti roll bar and see the condition of the bushes and links. if you hit the end hard with your palm, you may hear a noise, the first way is the best.

Similar Problem.

Hi,
a few years ago, after I got my first 190e, I changed all 4 shocks on the vehicle, plus put Eibach springs on it.Not long later, I noticed a slight noise from the front n/side suspension ...not all the time , but when I performed certain manoeuvres , plus in certain weather conditions. If I pushed the front wing down, there would be a sqeaking sound coming from down in suspension area.To me, and others, it sounded as if the shock was making the noise.I swapped the shocks over, putting the left onto the right side and visa versa. For a few days the noise dissappeared only to to return....on the n/side again, so it wasn't the shock.Changing the top mount didn't make any differance either.
In the end I took the suspension apart to have a good look...... it turned out to be the bottom ball joint. The rubber wasn't perished and all looked ok, but on removal, the grease inside the joint had ceased to be grease....more like the stuff an oxo cube is made of !.
Replaced the suspension ball joints...end of problem.
Hope this may help.

RonH.
