I am a new member and I would like to say thank you, for helping me to change my brakes pads front and rear, for helping me with my windscreen wiper motor, for helping me with my wheel alignement and for making me aware that im not the only one with a W210 1999 rust bucket.

This is my second E class, the first a 1996 E200 which I had for six years, unfortunately a blown head gasket and £1000 worth of new pistons etc made me get rid. My current E300td ive had for 2 years, when I bought it, it had the usual stone chips etc, but now what a mess, both front wings and a warning from the MOT centre, bottoms of doors, bootlid etc, youve heard all the tales. And now you have given me the idea of chasing up MB to see if they will do the 'honourable thing'. Again, thank you!

What a sorry tale, with a 99 car in such a state, no matter when it was serviced, and who by I am sure MB will honour their obligation to provide a vehicle that is fit for at least seven years.

Call at the dealers a s a p and expain the problem and let us all know the outcome.

Rust E300td 1999

Hi I previously mentioned the rust on my beloved motor, because of the info on the web site I decided to approach my main MB dealer. What fun, hes gone bust!! Not there anymore, just my luck. So I decided that my next MB dealer was at Mann Island, Liverpool, so I setoff on my travells, when I got there, the dealership wasnt!! Is it me or is someone trying to tell me something. I was told by a passing bus driver that there was another MB dealer just around the corner. So with great enthusiasm I drove to the next dealership and was told "we dont have a body shop here, ours is in Chester". I give up.

Which is the one that went bust?

Road Range in Mann Island moved to Pall Mall a couple of years ago, but it's now (together with at least the Wirral and Chester branches) owned by Inchcape.

MB Chester is my local branch, and I'm not aware that there's a body shop there - I could be wrong though. But the site's pretty small. Maybe they use an outside contractor?

I think many mercedes garages use outside contractors for bodywork.
I know Enza trucks in Trafford Park use a company in Irlam and what used to be Ryecroft Mercedes in East Manchester used a private bodyshop about 1/2 mile away.

North Manchester commercials does have its own body shop but I am not sure how major a job they will tackle, I have only seen them doing panel work, perhaps they wouldn't jig a badly bent sprinter?

hi,
the dealership that went bust was HL.Gorners at Ashton in Makerfield, Wigan and they also had their own bodyshop. Ive been a customer for approx 9 years. My motor was serviced by them however eventually the cost of service did not warrant the prices charged, at £75-100 and hour for labour so the mechanics did the work as foreigners at a weekend. I bought the parts approx £100 and they serviced it. OK i did not get my service book stamped but needs must.

Thank you for the info on RoadRange joining PallMall , I didnt know, have to get me head out of the sand. Pallmall was where I went to enquire, it was them who said that their bodyshop was in Chester. Ive no info on who, where etc.
