We had our '95 E200 W210 serviced by Andy and his crew in B'ham last week at 72,000 miles. It was good to find a car specialist at which *everyone* seems enthusiastic about the cars. Everyone we met was friendly, genuine and welcoming, which made such a pleasant change from the normal attitude of most of the Merc main dealers around here (Sussex).

A big thanks to Andy and his team - I recommend them. A full major service plus replaced front steering arm joints all for loads less wonga than our main dealers were gonna charge for the service alone.

Andy, your business deserves every success!

That's a long way to go for a service. Did the price differential warrant the drive to Brum and back? I too live in Sussex (Eastbourne) and my W210 E300TD is in need of a B service. From what I've read in this forum, Andy & co will do a good job but it's a bit of a journey. I'm tempted though. Is there much to see and do in the area whilst it's being done? The suspension needs looking at (a bit noisy) so my concern is that it would be needed for more than one day.

Well, my brother lives in Coventry, so we combined visits. I'm not sure I would have gone all that way otherwise - the cost per mile of an E Class might make the cost difference insignificant.

One good thing that Andy offers as standard is the taxi service into Birmingham centre, so you could spend a day shopping. It's just as well - there's nothing but Black Country desolation to see near his workshop! :)

Andy's prices are on his site, so I'm not revealing anything new here: Our local main stealer quoted £470 + VAT and Andy charges £250 + VAT for this service. If you might need extra work doing (like we did once they'd done the inspection) then you should definitely make the journey.

I plan to drive up to Andy from Weymouth to receive a quality service after being very dissappointed with two local stealerships.  If the service is not up to the mark I will look elsewhere, that's my motto.  I have seen many commendations for Andy so I will try his service.

I see it as a Day out in the Midlands.  I emailed Andy, he said someone could run us down to the shops while the car is serviced!

Only 2k to go now!!

Which dealerships do you use, Dave? My brother-in-law has used the place in Dorchester (don't know the name) for his '96 W124 E280 and has always been pleased with them. His car has done 250,000 miles now (!), and is still running sweet (after a new head gasket and a gearbox recondition). The place in Dorchester has serviced it all its life.

When Ian had the gasket done he saw inside the engine. The bores looked new, with the honing marks still intact! Makes me happy for the future of mine!

My parents live in Chickerell - I was down there at the weekend. Lovely!

Hehe I used the very Same and Jacksons in Poole, on both instances they have overlooked specific requests on what should be attended to.  Also I feel that they are expensive, certainly compared to Andy Gales.

I live out in Preston, I work in Chickerell at the old Grammer school (not a teacher though!)

My dAd has been happy with the service at Caffyns, although he has bought 3 Mercs from them now!!!  I feel that they like the people who buy cars from them, but don't give the same attention to cars from other places.

I just felt that the do not give sufficient attention to my requests and have dismissed comments I have made without a second thought, sufficiently to pee me off anyway!!

Still their loss!
