:)I have a 1992 W201 which for some time has been 'collecting' water in the boot. I have looked through old posts and have a list of things to check. But I have a few basic questions:

1. am i correct in thinking the '190E' and '2.0' badges and the merc logo are stuck on to the boot and not 'clipped' on and therefore would not be a way for water to enter?

2. if the water is getting in through the perishing of the 'o' ring around the lock is it easy for me to change my self -do i need special tools?

3. the foot long 'lip' which you use to open the boot - is the boot sealed under it as i don't want to take it off it is unecessary.

4. I suspect the water is getting into the boot skin itself as when i open the boot it drips out of the 'arm' holes (the 'arm' is the only word i can think of to descibe the bits which attach the boot to the body of the car!)

5. I do have a little water in the rear right hand light panel but i think that is a separate challenge. Do I just unscrew the panel and put some sealant round it?

Thank you in advance for any help. I am now off to find the manual relase for the petrol flap as is has locked itself. Good job i love my 'baby'.:)

Made a discovery

Went into the boot to find the manual release for the petrol flap. Had to pull out completely the plastic skin which is clipped to the body of the car as i couldn't reach the release through the hole. On leaning in to see the release which has a red top I turned my head 180 degrees and could see a small patch of rust where the bottom of the window joins the body. Am guessing this is my leak. I felt it and there was a drip. There is a matching one on the other side. Not sure about how to seal the window. Does the plastic panel on the outside come off. It looks like an air filter?
