What is the general concensus of modified cars here?
Although a young roustabout myself I have left my 190e completely standard.
Apart from the gold tissue box cover on the parcel shelf.

I am thinking about anti-chaving a car.
Maybe calling it Neving rather than Keving.

Get a Nova from your local scrapper-

Raise the suspension.

Get lots of chrome and an AA badge on the grill.

Paint it British Leyland Brown.

Fit a walnut and brown vinyl interior (maybe with humidor in the dash).

Fit an 8-track stereo (mono of course).

Slap on a set of wire wheels with the biggest tyres money can buy.

Fit a fishtail exhaust from a pre-war bentley.

Fit a bulb horn on the door and have wing mirrors on the actual wing.

Wear a flat cap and tweed and drive round outside MacDonalds at 5MPH playing the archers with your window wound down.

Hard as nails.

Niiiiice!

Thing is, I used to be assistant manager at a pub that used to be invaded every wednesday night by readers of Max Power.
They had Micras, Novas, Metros and Saxos. All with ridiculous body kits- all show and no go. All the kids had loads of attitude and caused problems with the police- they seemed to think that drag racing up the A40 would go unnoticed.
One night some guys turned up in a Trans-Am and the Kevs took the **** because they thought it was an old banger.
Much hilarity ensued. Turns out the Trans-Am was running Nos and all sorts.
I have never seen so many embarrassed Kevs in all my life. Priceless.

What the hell has VIP Club got to do with anything?

The previous owner of my car stuck TEAM TRACTION on the back where the 2.0 badge should be. Can't get the bugger off now.

i was trying to impress some girls in it the other day. I set off from the traffic lights and managed to spin the wheels for 42 seconds before moving. i got a whole 20yards up the road before the tyres exploded and the clutch fell out.

the girls walked off

Still, they must keep tyre centres in business!

I must be getting old, 'cos I do not understand it all- mind you I am only twenty five- now where did I leave that pint of mild and my pickled egg?
Is it a bit cold in here?
Mind you we didn't have kevs during the war. Sovereign rings were rationed.
Where are my glasses?
Oh dear.

Maybe he has an incredible amount of power under the bonnet that warrants loads of downforce and he has a bank account that allows the purchase of new tyres every lap of the town...did you ever think of that...huh?

and...maybe VIP CLUB looks like something different in a rear view mirror.

Is a laguna a FWD or RWD?

Front. Not bad at cornering fast all the same (I used to have one), rolls less than most cars of that size, but never as good as a RWD.

Much better on ice than my C-class though, even though it didn't have traction control.

If it's FWD and has a thumping big spoiler on the rear, then it's not going to go round a corner at all!

My mums Audi A2 is scarey fast at cornering, pity it doesn't go very faster in a straight line.

The other day on my way to a band practice I drove past a kev who was taking a corner at a silly speed and was obviously not in control. I thought to myself that he is not going to last long driving like that. On my way back I saw his car on its side with its roof against a tree about twenty feet away from the road. Nasty.
Not much left of his saxo at all. I can't imagine that he survived.
At least he was alone in the car.

judging by most of his posts i would say a rubber band. :p

actually it amazes me how many people never admit to playing in many sorts of bands and yet the BBC has one, the films makers use full on orchestras for background music....listen to all the starwars music. someone must play in these things. I also notice not many like opera. yet almost 6m watched the Jerry Springer opera live and 4m saw it on tv. And i went to the Met in New York to see Aida and it was a full house. Only 3000 and that was a saturday afternoon, In December. I am so sad my ringtone is the Triumphal march.

I went to see Hayley Westenra last year and Kathrin Jenkins was her support. they were excellent and it was chockerblock too.

I put classic fm on the radio in the office and when i first started it the collegues thought i was bonkers.....but then one by one they all troop in and sit down for a chat and after a while they just sit there...and then say it's relaxing in here aint it.....then i make some swearwords up and then leave chuckling to themselves..works tho....am almost horizontal at work now.

and 2 girlies came round to my house yesterday. and classic fm tv was on in the background. they both said it was really chilled to be in my house.

but you try and tell the young ones that today and they wont belive you. There is no culture in the world today. more people should drive mercs and be mellow knowing that today is the best its ever going to be. then at least if tomor is worst you know its over but at least you were not disapointed thinking it could have been better. and of course if its better you will feel more better still...thats a win win in my book.

And i took the dvd of Brassed off to work one christmas...we all sat and watched it and even the young ones said it was good. Mind you we were at work.......being paid....but hey....some of us get treats.

Jo- I have a ball made of rubber bands but I have never played one.
I am afraid I don't play in a brass band either.
I play fretless guitar, normal guitar, six string bass and drums. Not all at the same time I hasten to add!
I play various styles of music ranging from Jazz to Metal. I am a big fan of Frank Zappa- so that gives you a rough idea.
I also like some classical music, but no opera, folk or country. Shudder.

Whilst in Las Vegas i last year i fell apart laughing on the Stratophere tower. A real cowboy came thru....a texan with creases in his jeans and the shirt, hat and the cowboy boots with the John Wayne swagger.

He liked 2 kinds of music he told me. Country AND western. He was the original Good Ol Boy. Oh my how i reminded myself what a great country we are......

Folk....isnt that when a load of tone deaf people talk sing about depressive things....bit like country and western really but in arran jumpers with a finger in your ear......

have you ever noticed if you mention how bad certain types of music is, the supporters attempt to justify their lack of taste by saying all music if a form of there type.....the Bee Gees did that. they said all music in their disco beat is based on their genre...i dont recall them inventing any type of music. Its good in a real nightclub tho...better than that car alarm music todays generation bop around to.

I must admit, I have never thought of the Beegees being particularly progressive. Nice to know castrati can still find gainfull employment in these modern beat combos though.
