Hi All,
I’ve had the car in for a number of jobs a month ago (O2 sensor, intercooler downpipe, etc). I can’t believe how much money I’ve spent on this car but I do love it.
During the last visit, it seems I have a bit of an oil leak which is collecting on the rear under tray. Suspect oil intercooler seals but not confirmed.

My question is, is it ok to drive distances with this issue? It’s not gushing out, I’m keeping a careful eye on the oil level and it’s hardly moving at all but from what I hear, it’s knocking on the door of a grand to have an independent to sort this out. I simply don’t have the time or garage space to do it myself.
Just ordered a second hand gear selector module which I will do myself. What’s next I wonder?

Cheers
Graeme

OM642 - and yes the oil leak can get worse quite quickly if it’s collecting on the engine undertray it’s time to get it done. Make sure you get an Independent to do the work it’s a 10 hour labour job but there is a lot to break in there if you don’t usually work on MB

My c207 350cdi is booked in on Jan 3rd for the dreaded Oil Cooler leak, I'm still using mine, I check the oil every 2 days, and haven't been travelling to far until it's sorted, also not been giving it the beans, again until it's sorted.

Is there more than one with oil cooler seals that go ?? Genuine ask.
Not sure, as said the OM642 engine is prone to it, crap seals apparently (Orange) fitted when new, when repair is done they fit new updated seals (purple). Don't know about any other Mercedes engines.

I’ve got all the seals for the job in the garage . Still looking to buy some “bottle” before attempting it though ;)
Plenty of photos/ videos for the put back together, stripping down is the easy bit. I'd be worried also tbh . But it's do able. Lay out all the bits as they come off in order.

I stood on one of those when I was younger in Australia.

Hurt quite a bit!
