Do you have any ideas?

I bought a 1998 CLK320. Everything worked in the test drive. I drove it and all was well. I tested it again picked it up and started driving home, then the climate control stopped blowing. All the buttons work but no air. Could the seller have know this or is this just a freak of nature.

How about tracking? It drove fine when I tested it, but now it keeps pulling to the left.

Would appreciate any information on what might be wrong and what it should cost to put right. Thanks

Totaly confused:

The blower is not a big deal, there is a blower control unit that sits next to the blower that normally fails and is easily changed. The steering, on the other hand can have many problems from a low tyre pressure on one side to a serious steering problem. I would start at the begining and check your tyre pressures.

Your fault could be anywhere from the control unit in the car down to the fan.

You would need a a volt meter to check where the fault lies.

When checking the tire pressures, often just a touch under helps, otherwise get the tracking checked.

Thanks for your help, very much appreciated. Without warning, the blower started working last night. Hmmm

I would suggest you replace the blower fuse, look in your book,it'll tell you which one.

Its worth a try, but generally when the control unit gets hot it flips out and can work again when cool. The control unit is the big suspect, but as mentioned by Malcolm many other things can cause this. As its working now we have to wait and see if it fails again.

Mine in my SLK did that too. Twice.
1st tim I resoldered the pcb on the HVAC unit.

2nd time I replaced the motor brushes.
The brushes seem to a common culprit.

I have to agree with this post as the biggest cause for intermittent operation, and this goes for most cars across the range.
