No he is loaded, can afford to be normal and laugh at himself and the AMG is the cheapest of several high-end cars he owns.
2 ends of the spectrum:
1) Those that really have it (mock the badge).
2) Those that wish they had it (fake the badge).
with a 2 pointed starIve just picked this up, its a C 80 2.5 pronged AMG Sport
The (not so) rare 220cdi AMG…

That’s standard… comes with the badge…Mit single-exhaust option
surely a no cost optionThat’s standard… comes with the badge…
“No cost option”! They’ll never make any money giving the things away… to maintain the exclusivity of “AMG” they have to charge handsomely!surely a no cost option
I wouldn't think it was the dealers, got to be the jack the lad types. If the dealers were fitting them it could work against them. When I was in the trade the secret was to try and make the car as neutral as possible. The ones that are in there stock must be because when they bought them in they were already in situ.Does anyone know who are sticking on the AMG badges that don't seem to be that old? Is it second hand dealers, making something look a bit special, or owners?

There is a CLK 220 CDi badged as a "Black Series" near me
Could have been one of the ones I photographed at “Cars in the Park”.Far too many AMG badges on inappropriate cars at Beaulieu today so didn’t bother to photograph them. Surprising though as, presumably, most people there have some knowledge and interest in the marque and really ought to know better. Worst was an SLK 250 CDI woth complete badging and a crooked AMG badge,

It’s a lovely car - the quad pipes are a bit of a giveaway but otherwise very much a wolf in sheeps clothingon the other hand, at Beaulieu today, I watched plenty of people wander around my unbadged E55 trying to work out what it was. Those that know AMG’s knew straight away, others just wandered off to find something nice..
