evenin all
my merc e class 3td 1997 is runnin quite well except for the turbo lag (zzzzzzz).
however i decided to go to kwik fit to get the air con re charged the chappie said he could do it as their is sum gas in the system ,but he found one port to recharge but couldnt find the other after about an hour he gave up and said if i located it i could take it back any1 any ideas where it might be .cheers rooster

You can charge with one port regardless if its low side or high side, if high side you can weigh in the exact charge in liquid form, if only low side port is available you can precharge a charging still with liquid and draw the vapour off to the low side, the same amount of gas is charged and you do not run the risk of if using a drop in such as R49 or RS24 of the incorrect proportion of the blend of gas, of course kwik fit know all of this ............... not!

Look in your Yellow pages under Air con cars, there are specialist that re charge for around £55

In the autodata book, E class 1995 on, the high side port is on the right hand side of the condenser looking from the front of the car and the low side port is on the suction pipe close to the compressor.
