We have had a recent speight of badge thefts (three in my road last Saturday) and I was wondering if Mercedes does a thief proof version. I have a 1997 W202. Apart from wiring the badge to the battery I’m a bit miffed at having to fork out £12.00 + Vat a time just for the amusment of some brainless nerk.

How about wired up to the trigger of a shotgun sticking out the grill about knee-cap height:evil: :D

It would be quite easy to make the MB badge a touch sensor that sprayed out red dye out of the grill as soon as you touched it, not so lethal as a shot gun

But you could be certain you would catch them with my method;)

It is such a shame that any attempt to protect your badge by physical means is probably illegal, you mustn't hurt the little scrotes, you know its against their human rights.
The star on my 17 yr old 124 went one recent friday night, or should I say it was damaged beyond repair, the star being older and frail with degrading chrome plate disintegrated into "the hand wot tried to steal" it leaving all the bits in an unmendable state covered in a red sticky bloodlike substance some of which had sprayed over the bonnet and dripped onto the floor near the car.
Serves him right hope he got lockjaw or some other nasty disease.
Grinding a scalpel sharp edge to the star sounds good to me, but then the scrote does have his human rights.

Mine went last week :(
They sell "removable" ones on Ebay.

Gone up in price since I last looked though :( £56

May be worth a trawl on the internet to find a cheaper version.
I can't understand there high price as it is after all a £12 star with an adaptor. Getting my new star this week I may have a look and see if I can bodge it to a removable one:lol:
