Think my Merc is falling apart

I think the turbo actuator is intermittently faulty but not sure.
How much does it normally cost to have this part replaced please?

Symptoms:
Engine light is on
Intermittent acceleration issues - usually after coasting and reengaging throttle
Takes longer to start
Using more fuel than usual - diesel
No exhaust smoke (MOT last week and smoke test was 0.35 1/m
No whistling or hissing
Engine races occasionally

The ECR was replaced recently, which solved accelerator hunting

Garage is looking at it next week, but it would be nice to go in forearmed with the likely diagnosis.

Don't go into a garage with a likely diagnosis from the Internet.. it will likely serve to just **** them off. Garage's hate that kind of thing.. which is kind of fair to be honest.

There could be a multitude of reasons but first port of call is to get the codes read.

I don't have much experience with turbo cars, but on my N/A petrol I had a variety of symptoms when the PCV system was playing up.

Personally take it to a garage and see what they say.. if you feel like you are getting done with a high quote, then take it to another place for a separate opinion and decide from there.

If the turbo actuator is playing up most garages will not replace without replacing the turbo as well - expensive but you can see their point as they don't want any comeback. If the turbo is good then you can get a refurbed actuator for around £120, about 15 minutes to fit, no coding.

First you need to find out what is causing the eml and then decide what next. When my actuator played up there were no codes, a refurbed actuator solved the issues I was having and the car drove so much better afterwards.
