Hello all, apologies this is my forst post but am after some advice if possible:

My wife is after a CLK convertible, and we have seen a lot for less than £8k (1999-2001 models), so have the floowing questions:

1. Where are the common rust spots on these?
2. Can you replace the sticky up star with a flat badge (as that is what she would want!)?

Thanks

Lee

You can get the flat ones for the bonnet!!

They can rust just about all over, main points is the wheel arches, bonet and boot, and the doors, i think that covers all over!!!!

Welcome to the forums!

its a shame, they seem to have had the same problems as the e class rust wise. however a well looked after one will be sound. my 210 was (and for now still is) dog rough round the arches, bonnett, bootlid and bits on the doors. on closer inspection though, 99% of its problems seem to stem from neglect by previous owners! stone chips not touched up, wheelarch lips not cleaned out etc!

There are some neat ones around but you have to pay the price and the spend some time looking for one. Why not try to source a coupe with sunroof? That would be far easier to find
