Re interior colour, I love light coloured interiors on R230's especially with wood trim and black bodywork. There are so many ordinary examples silver with black interiors. Maybe just me and my age!

On a 10 year old budget 230, interior colour would not be near the top of my list of concerns.

Worth a look, you can't tell too much from the advert. All checks need to be done carefully, as above particularly to resolve any queries over the registration. Of course I like the colour, but then I am biased :D

that looks a nice car ,for the money especially if miles and history confirm each other.

Thanks. What do you guys think of looking at SLs with higher mileage? I'm talking 90k ish for a 2006 model. Wouldn't necessarily concern me with a regular car, but not sure about the SL.

I think initially I was looking at ones with up to around 70k, but I seem to like the slightly newer ones and in my budget they seem to have more miles.

Also, could someone confirm if the 7 speed gearbox is standard on a 350 from a particular date?

Thanks

The 7 speed was standard on the SL500 on 2004 cars, i think the SL350 got it a little later.

Have you decided on the 350 or are you still looking at 500's.

Still looking at both, but probably leaning towards the 350 to be honest.

Anyway, you should be focusing on your new 500!

All similarly equipped , fairly basic spec - second 2 possibly no wind deflectors?
So its down to mileage and budget. Second one is incredibly low miles...

The last one is said to be a face lift, it is not at all.

To help me out, how can you tell the difference between the facelift and the previous version? The facelift was in '05 yes? Or was it in 2006?

That particular car is listed as a 2006 but its an '05 plate.

The 2006 face lift came out in 06-2006, to spot one easily the front grill on the face lift only has 3 slats on the front grill, the earlier one has 4 slats.

I do like the second one, but have seen a few other ads over the last couple of days so am planning to see 3-4 near-ish me over the weekend if I can.

That way I should be able to decide pano roof / no pano roof.

Am planning on looking at a decent 2006 older style one and a 2006 facelift one and that will help me decide if I want to spend the extra for the facelift version.

I found a few pics online that show how the rear lights; fog lights etc. changed after the facelift.

Thanks for your continued help chaps, much appreciated.

PS - Was it just me or has the forum been off-line for a couple of days??

Yeah the forum was out of action for a day ish, all normal again.
The pano roof is something worth trying to get if you can, but they seem to be much less common in the 350 than the 500 as far as I'm seeing?
Good luck in your continued search, it will be worth the patience and you are now in the time where there's likely to be bargains....:p

Yes LED rear lamps on the facelift, 3 slat grill and a chrome ring around fogs.

Many have have fitted the LED rear lamps to their earlier cars. I have.

And H1 LEDs to the front fogs.
