Those W numbers

Hi world,
I am pretty new to Mercs..and looking around this forum I see lots of references to W302 W123 W this & that ??

Can anyone explain what they mean

Mine is a 2005 C180K auto saloon

The numbers are the start of the chassis num, your for eg, WDC2030162R=C180 WDC2030082R=C200CDI WDB2112222R=E320CDI, god, i need to get out more, you get the picture!!!

OK mine starts WDC2030 as you said, but all the references I have seen just start with a W then 3 numbers... does that mean I have a W203 ??
