Thrusting E Class

My 2003 270CDi E Class is exhibiting a problem that Daimler Chrysler and the dealer are unsure of. The symptoms are that from cold the engine starts OK but immediately it's put into D or R and a minute amount of acclerator is applied then the engine stops. All diagnostics on the engine are OK so the car goes in on Monday for DC and the dealer to investigate the gearbox and thrust bearings over 3 days. Any one have similar problems.
The car is dog awful unrelaible and DC and the dealer are talking about 'buying' the car back and putting me into another car. Has anyone any experience of this process. Thanks for any help you may care to offer

My E270 is fine.
The 'Diagnostics' amuse me. I've been here with a petrol E class. "The daignostics say your car is fine". I say it isn't and I've been driving it for 2 years!
After 3-4 runs round this cycle I gave mine to a non franchised specialist who turned off the computer and fixed it using old fashioned methods. Unfortunatley if the computer says its fine they read that as it IS fine, not simply "the computer didn't detect the problem".
At least they are taking it seriously. I would imagine they have a writen code of conduct with regard to buy backs with a tariff for age/mileage etc. If their latest efforts fail, I'd ask to see it.

They have effectively admitted that the car is a dog - I'd want an identical model as a swap or a brand new one for very little taking the woofer in p/ex.
