make sure the trip button is pushed all teh way in... if you reset it to zeros but don't quite push it all the way the barrells click off the cog that woudl normally turn it.
Just gently push the button beside the tripmeter as far as it can go and see if the clicking goes away.
Thanks Guys, I'll try the pushing the trip button in first! The trip's knackered as it is. I shoulda said - I do know the clicking noise is coming from the speedo (needle/whatever the needle's connected to) itself as I can exactly match the movement of the needle with the sound.

Ah ok.... I thought it was just the clock area in general. Probably simplest to just replace the speedo itself or can the back of the speedo be opened?
Although its very possible that the fly spring or male hex socket is gone on the speedo, I suspect it could be the cable.
Unscrew and refit both ends, ensuring female ends fit correctly into male sockets.
Thanks, 'sounds kinda obvious to me now! I'll try connecting and reconnecting first of all. The speedo needle has been a bit 'bouncy' for a while - ie not moving smoothly and hovering around the actual speed. This happened after I really gave it a blast to max speed.
