ticking

Hi all.
Started my c240 this morning and left it running while I moved my other car. When I came back to it it was ticking, sounds a bit like a cam follower or tappet noise. Any experiences/ideas out there???????

without hearing it,that will be hard to tell but would say the above is likely!!!

Have you ruled out the canister purge valve??

My ageing 250D used to do that (I'm quite sure it was tappet noise), more so when the oil change was getting due.

I fitted a new thermostat last year, now the car temp runs at about 90 now instead of 80 and it hasn't done its rattle since.
