I went to the bank today in Tilly. When I came out the bank there was about 8 people all standing round Tilly wanting questions answered, it took me about half an hour before I could drive off

I see it still has the HMV/Radiomoble radio that uses the 0Z4 rectifier and vibrator, does it still work, I have fixed loads of them years ago

The radio has been converted to FM now Malcolm with a jack plug for MP3 or CD player.

No point in having AM as there is nothing to listen to nowadays

Yes I have done that as well and fitted a new radio inside the old case so that most of the controls still work , that model was the first after the war in about 1948/4) Memories are made of this ;):D

The Radiomobile 100 was mostly fitted in luxury cars like the Bentleys, Rolls Royces etc. There are still a lot of them around but getting them converted is expensive

Nice restoration Xtractor, what happened to the split windscreen in the last picture and that isn't the correct front grille for a split model?

Oh waiting on a new rubber coming..wrong one sent.. it was fitted by the windscreen guys and they hated it... Not sure about the grille.. it may have been replaced before it came to us... But I do remember sanding and painting the grille..so it was the one that came with the car..It is a 1954 model If I remember correctly

Nice car malcolm ..I could never have spent that amount of time on a project..
I did have pics of a 1960 ish Rolls that we restored but never got round to putting them on computer..This Rolls had form as it was used by a film company and was in the Sweeny and Minder and a few of the films of that era....
Apparently they would use the Rolls., jaguars etc. in chases and then crash an old painted up bodyshell.. so it never was the actual Good Roller or Jag being trashed...

Amazing Malcolm, I could never dedicate 17 years to a project.

What would that be worth today?

The early split screen Moggies gad a grille like the one in this picture,

Wood_s_1954_Morris_Minor_op_760x590.jpg

Someone obviously wanted his Moggie to look like a modern car and changed it at some point in its life

You know if I had to go to the bank I'd be taking the Rover too in your circumstances. There is just something so classy about using that car to run down to the bank.

I was in and around Singapore for the first half of 2008. To own a classic in Singapore is very very expensive indeed due to the fact they don't want everyone to have a car and they only want new cars on the road. Anyhow, right in the middle of the Orchard Rd sitting waiting to turn right down a side street was a smoke silver 107 SLC, ever so slightly lowered with a Corporate style Western Banker type sitting in it. It looked like a Hollywood superstar amongst all the modern computer designed stuff. It left such an impression on me. I could only imagine your Rover would do the same. It is truly a work of art, and so is that Rolls Royce!

I was in Singapore a few years ago and expected to see a number of classic cars, how disappointed was I when I saw a total of one MBG and that was my lot. Mind you the rain showers and humidity wouldn't be favourable for classic owners.

My son works in Bermuda and we are over there on a regular basis, another place you would expect to see plenty of classic cars, but sadly not so.

I wouldn't be surprised if those classics in Singapore (and there are some beauties I've seen in a TV doco) have their very own air conditioned garage. It is just so expensive to own an old car there and the types that do will of course have to pay out again for the real-estate to park it. I am guessing they would have it well and truly sorted in so far as the humidity goes - a cheap option compared to the storage real-estate and the registration, taxes etc etc. Tilly would be in her element in downtown Singapore. Only, that hat needs replacing with a Bowler......
