One week from now the 124 will go back into its house for 6 months, all cosy and out of the way of our winter weather where it can hibernate for 6 months.

I did my 129 6 weeks ago. I'm missing it already...

Yep, I tucked away my SL and SEC last month too. Gives me a warm feeling to know they are in the garage when it's raining and snowing outside!

I usually put my 129 away at the end of October too but for the first time in my ownership it is going to have to tough the winter out this year.
On the bright side I will get to drive it a bit more this year.

My 170 went away officially end of Sept - well at my dads as my Lotus will be doing the same in a week so I can fully strip and refurb the suspension in my garage..

I hava a garage,, but when we moved in to this bungalow at the time i did not have car to garage .But the war depot [wife] did .She had this nice Nisan ,,it fitted in just right along side my bench and tool cab and other things i use . .So after i was given the W124 i had no protection as such . But i purchased a good car cover . and for the last 4 years have been glad to use it .You would laough if you could see whats in the engine compartment - one kingsize duvet and 5 bath towels . On the car body to protect it from the cold and the car cover i fitted 4 kingsize thermal sheets .No not off the bed we have fleece on there so the thermal were spare and come in for the car covering up job.I take a look at it every now and then its like a bug in a rug . Seems many on here have the same idea.

My MX5 is now tucked away in the garage, up on stilts while the wheels are being refurbed.
The suspension will be changed, the exhaust manifold will be swapped out for a nice stainless header, and out will go the primary cat. The hood is up but not tensioned, and covered in a blanket to keep the dust off.
A C-tek is ticking over, and the display is readable as I enter the garage.
Back to life in early Spring. Can't wait.

I haven't driven the GT3 for just over a month (after a 2000 mile trip in it) - I have withdrawal symptoms. I don't think I will be able to leave it alone until the spring...

Don't duvets/sheets/layers work only to retain heat? So they work for people because people produce heat...but as the car doesn't produce any heat no matter how many layers you put on it it will still be the same temp as if it has none. And I would have thought duvets could absorb a lot of water too in the air and thus might make it rust quicker?

LOL that car is well pampered :D. Would that duvet in the engine compartment not be very attractive to mice and rats to nest?

My SL will still make occasional appearances over the winter months, on dry clear days. I personally think it does it good to keep driving it. As long as the seals are gummi pfledged and the rear arches waxoyled it should be OK. Make sure all the drains are clear. It will always be garaged.
