The most common breathable covers on the market are made of spun Polypropelene of various grades, thicknesses and number of layers. They will keep showers off the car completely, but heavy and persistent rainfall will eventually batter through, in part. So your car would get wet, but not totally soaked. So u guess ur breathable covers are only designed for indoors?
You can identify these by their dimple/golf ball top surface.
Sadly some vendors claim these type of covers are waterproof (or maybe 'water resistant' - a very misleading phrase as a paper bag is water resistant...though only a tiny bit) - as per the above, our Breathable covers are not 'waterproof', but if total waterproofness is important to you, then you simply have 2 options:
1. A waterproof cover that is not breathable - many of the silver coated or plastic/rubber coated types
2. A waterproof cover that is waterproof AND breathable. Like our Waterproof & Breathable covers.
Type 2 costs more as its doing 2 things.
I happily use one of our Breathable Protector4 covers outside on a sound coupe as a bit of water sometimes wont hurt it. Breathable outdoor covers can of course be used indoors too.
I hope this is informative.
