timing belt/chain

hi all, looking for advice on clk 320. have been saving to buy one and the time is almost right. looking at 99' at around 60-80k. have no idea though on service intervals or more importantly timing/cambelt info. would really appreciate any advice that anyone can give me on this model and things i should be looking for. thanks in advance.

Hi & Welcome,

Servicing is decide by the ASSYST system in the car, depending upon mileage and oil type ~13-17,000 miles for servicing. If doing very low miles however this can drop below 13,000.
Duplex timing chain so no issues there.
Check for rust

ok thanks. now what is a duplex timing chain? and do i understand from you comment that this never needs changing? please excuse my ignorance in advance.

A duplex chain is a double chain and should be good for 150-200k miles, and for that matter the rest of the car should be OK for that milage.

ah thank you. now just a quick one... the avantgarde and sport seem to sit lower than the elegance, do they have a lowered suspension as standard?
