I recently bought a 2003 E200K with 69,000 on the clock.
This is my first merc and was wondering when the timing belt should be changed?

As Hibbo, but not quite for ever but 150k miles plus,or when or if it starts to rattle at start up, then you have a few thousand miles to think about it.

basically its just a chain instead of a belt.

Change your engine oil and filter regularly and on time and the timing chain will rarely give trouble.

Just use quality oil and filters.
