Any suggestions on removing the 2 pins of the upper guide rail? I need to remove the cylinder head to replace the gasket - these pins need to be removed (I think) unless I split the chain.

Haynes says pull them out, but there is no way these are going to be pulled out ... I have put a lot of tension on these and no movement at all and it is damaging the surface (not a vital surface) of the cylinder head ...

Thanks for any help

Tools for the job. (it's been many years so I may not be 100% on this). A long 10mm spanner size nut & bolt threaded all the way. Wind the nut all the way onto the bolt. Put a washer on (Yes after the nut). Slide a 10mm - ish socket (1/4 drive is best) onto bolt against washer. Now wind the bolt into the pin which is inturnally threaded. Now wind the nut down & this will pull the pin out & into hollow part of socket. :D

What a weekend

Thanks for the tip, it was actually what I was doing and the best I could manage was 1-2mm movement on the bottom pin before the bolt snapped. I've split the chain and will take it off this way and recover the broken bolt with the head off. It's just too tight ...

Thanks

Colin
