Has anyone had too, or know when ur supposed to replace the ever so expensive timing chain? I have 130k on my 280 and i doubt the chain has ever been replaced. Ive noticed no difference in performance, idling economy, or heard any odd noises from the engine. Hopefully this is just one of those things that last the life of the car?

I think its every 96,000 miles. Maybe someone else has a service schedule (the proper thing, not the Haynes manual stuff!) relating to your exact model. There were loads of 280's through the years. I am thinking W108 but I reckon you are thinking W124 or something.

In which case I wouldn't worry about it. Don't be confused with the renewal routines timing belts have, a duplex chain is a different matter altogether and normally last a very, very long time.
