Timing Mark - Cant see it!

I tried to check the timing on my 260 E at the weekend, but can't find the timing pointer to reference against the crank pulley timing marks- anyone know where it is and is it visible from the underside of the car?

Hi

If the ignition timing you are trying to check. There is little point unless you have a paticular problem. The ignition timing is non adjustable.

Thanks Andy- I have no specific problem with the car apart from it needing an inordinately long cranking over time when its just warm- a problem which seems to have been rectified with some redX injector plus.
I have the Haynes manual, and know that I can't adjust the timing, but Ive just bought the car, and am familiarising myself with it, and wanted to check what I can, however seeing as the haynes doesn't see fit to tell me where it is, and it doesn't appear obvious- I will carry on looking for it myself.
