timming chain

Hi all, i have e230 96 model and the timming chain has slight rattle when cold is it possible to adjust the chain or should i replace the chain many.

Get it looked at and changed quickly.

I had one snap on a 88 w124 230 na good few years ago.

Are you sure its the chain and not the hydraulic tappets rattling Mark?. Get it checked out if your not sure, perhaps its a faulty tensioner, if so it has to be sorted quickly.

Hi.

My 124 rattles for 1 to 2 secs on start from cold....oil pressure kicks in and silence. (Had a Volvo some time ago the same)

Watch that chain mate. It just isnt worth the risk

Im sure its the chain and rattles for a minute or two when first running, also i forgot to say has done about 140,000 miles but not sure if chain is for life or may need replacing, car runs well but sluggish. many thanks for the replies.
