tiptronic not working

Help !!! car wouldnt start battery flat, followed instructions in manual and jump started it. took it for short run 1 mile or so and discovered it wont change up or down gears everything else seems ok. Is it just a duff battery? or what do you think. car is w203 cdi 2001..........thanks..Derek

Ps car would not start when i came back, but only did 1 mile with lights on so bat would not have charged

First, why was it flat, two, dont keep jump staring it! the chances are the gearbox has a fault code of the voltage to the supply vavle is to low, a good charge up should clear the fault!!

Ok no problem i think the battery is knackered, i only got the car on saturday so dont know when it last was changed. Any special precautions when changing battery ??

Bosch,Exide,Banner, Lucas do not get a halfords or house brand.

Your local motor factors that supply the trade can do you a good deal (yellow pages) Costco and Mackro keep Exide

Fitted new Bosch battery and all is well, everything appears to be working ok. Pity it started to **** it down midway through the change. It appears the batt that came out is the original unless someone bought a MB one at some point in the past. original was rated at 100ah but the new one 95ah so not much difference it was the biggest i could get. Thanks guys for the advice............Derek
